![]() ![]() It isn’t a Garmin site, but is maintained by a Garmin enthusiast. If you own a Garmin GPS device, you undoubtedly want to keep it up to date with the latest maps and software. If you can’t find the site that has these, I think I bookmarked it on my Mac. You have to format the drive and start from scratch which is a real pain and takes a long time with Windows when you have a lot of applications to also install again.Ģ. If one is simply gotten corrupt, but the file index is still good, then I don’t think a re-install will fix that. A Re-install should refresh the libraries and executables and replace any that are missing. It does sound like you have somehow lost a component of Windows that Express needs. If you haven’t done either of these things, I would give them a try.ġ. There is also a site that maintains old version of Basecamp and Express as I had to downgrade a few months ago when the latest version would no longer work due to a couple of known issues. I haven’t looked for either in a few years, but both were easily found at the Garmin site and a few other sites. Mapupdater and Mapinstall are still on my machine as I had to use both when I still had my Nav III as Express did not deal with that. I think recently, they are starting to skimp on the support side. In the past, they worked hard to provide good back office support to integrate these product lines for the consumer. They are a very mismanaged company who have allowed their very different product lines (GPS devices, Basecamp/Mapsource and Map Data) to work in isolation. On an off chance, you may want to have your device connect via USB to your system when you attempt the install. You have already turned off your virus protection and it failed, so your system isn't seeing Express as a virus. Check to make sure you are installing the correct version of Express 32bit or 64bit that matches your OS. As mentioned confirm you version of Windows, your system is very similar to mine and I have seen Windows 10 / 32bit get incorrectly installed before. It may be that there is a corrupted version of the same file that is causing the install to fail. When you go to your apps list (control panel>programs and features), is Garmin Express 6.9.1 already listed? If so, uninstall it. You may have tried this already, if so I apologize for the redundancy.
